Finding Home: The Sense of Belonging
Welcome to a musical and spiritual journey that takes a deeper look at what it means to “belong.”
In search of “home,” this program examines our frailty, fear, and isolation in order to expose a uniquely human sense of companionship and belonging. Join us as we re-envision “home” as not just a place or a group of people, but also “home” as a state of mind.
Our program includes music by today’s leading choral composers such as Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo, Giselle Wyers, Elaine Hagenberg and Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds, accompanied by piano, violin, cello, and percussion. Come explore a variety of “homes” from a variety of places, including an African American spiritual, a German quartet by Johannes Brahms, a setting of an African proverb, and a popular song from China.
We will be providing hybrid concert series this season, with one planned live performance (masks and proof of vaccination required) and one “online broadcast” of each concert. The online broadcast may not contain the complete program (due to licensing concerns).
